Your Devotional Life
Saturday, May 10th
Do you have questions about God's will for your life? Perhaps you feel you have missed God's will for your life. On the other hand, you may not be interested in God's will at all! But if you are like most people, whether you're young or old, at one time or another, you have had questions about God's will for you! Very often there are nagging questions which continue to plague you. Perhaps you've even wished for a voice from heaven or some other dramatic experience to clear up the confusion you feel. If only a little light were shed on your life it would be so helpful.
Well, listen to what King David, who wrote most of the psalms, says in Psalm 119:105, "Thy word is a lamp to my feet, And a light to my path." David found the guidance he needed in God's word, the Bible. To be sure, David did not have a complete Bible. But he did have at least the writings of Moses. Of these writings he said, "O how I love Thy Law! It is my meditation all the day" (Psalm 119:97).
You see, if you want to know God's will, you must read His word, the Bible and meditate over it. You must pray, asking God to help you understand His Word. This is the ordinary way God uses to speak to us. So you should read your Bible and pray every day if you really want to know more of God's will. And remember, you're a lot better off than King David was so many years ago. You have the whole Bible to read and study and pray over.
