Moms, a Gift from God

Several years ago I was in a courtroom to observe a trial. While waiting, I witnessed a divorce hearing. A woman appeared before a judge who asked one simple question, "Are you and your husband compatible?" The divorce was on the basis of incompatibility. What do you think the answer was? The woman answered no in a hushed voice. The gavel fell. The divorce was granted.

So it goes. Easy divorce is contributing to the demise of nearly one half the marriages currently consummated in America. This is the highest rate in the world. Part of the problem is our rejection of biblical values. Proverbs 19:14 says, "House and wealth are an inheritance from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the Lord." Many husbands are interested in nothing but money, money, money. They have little spiritual sensitivity. They have no eye for God. As a result, they fight with brothers and sisters over the family inheritance.

Jesus asks the pointed question, "What does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?" (Mark 8:36). So you get the money. In the meantime, you lose your wife. What good is the money? Listen to what the Bible says. "An excellent wife is the crown of her husband" (Proverbs 12:4). "Her worth is far above jewels" (Proverbs 31:10). "He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord" (Proverbs 18:22).
